About The Event

In this event provided by Fresno County Superintendent of Schools, Kern County Superintendent of Schools and Tulare County Office of Education through EPICC, SEAL will offer strategies to provide English Learners with ELD related to NGSS science themes and the social studies framework.

Free Event: SEAL Elementary ELD One Day Institute. Join in person or virtually!

Description:

The ELA/ELD Framework calls for integrating language development within the context of science and social studies standards. Using examples from the Sobrato Early Academic Language (SEAL) Model, participants will be immersed in strategies to provide English Learners with ELD related to NGSS science themes and the social studies framework.

Activities include watching videos from classrooms and learning about how to use language functions and graphic organizers to bridge Integrated and Designated ELD. We will closely examine how to plan for Designated ELD in a manner that both prepares students for content as well as responds to their individual linguistic needs.

Space is limited to the first 100 elementary classroom teachers and site administrators.
