July 14: Strengthening MTSS for Multilingual Learners with Disabilities: New Statewide Issue Brief, presented by Patricia Montes Pate and Dr. Joana Meadvin

Multilingual learners with disabilities are an increasingly significant—and often underserved—student group in California. This session will introduce a new statewide Issue Brief written by SEAL. The brief synthesizes leading research and practitioner insights to illuminate what effective, integrated support that honors students’ linguistic assets while addressing their diverse learning needs can look like in elementary settings.

July 15: Professional Learning Approaches to Explore UDL as a Support for Multilingual Learners, presented by Patricia Montes Pate (SEAL), Dr. Joana Meadvin (SEAL), and CAST

Take a dive into UDEL for Multilingual Learners and transform how you design lessons.  Using the Journey Mapping protocol, you'll uncover barriers, rethink lessons, and create learning experiences that amplify students' linguistic and cultural strengths.  Walk away with practical, ready-to-use strategies that help every learner engage deeply, build agency, and thrive in classrooms where inclusion and accessibility are built in.
