Empowering ELD for Dual Language Classrooms | Friday, Nov. 13 | 11:10 a.m. - 12:20 p.m.
Presenters: Jenny Rodriguez and Patricia Montes Pate
Description: Designing an ELD block that truly builds on students’ Spanish—and connects across the day—can be challenging, but it’s also where the greatest impact happens. In this practical session, SEAL shares how to design student-responsive ELD within a cohesive, research-based approach that intentionally bridges Spanish and English. Through classroom videos and artifacts, you’ll explore strategies like language functions, graphic organizers, sentence frames, and transfer lessons. Walk away with adaptable tools to align instruction, strengthen language transfer, and build academic literacy in both languages.
Cross-linguistic Connections in Dual Language Programs | Friday, Nov. 13 | 9:40 a.m. - 10:50 p.m.
Presenters: Patrica Montes Pate and Jennifer Clinkscales
Description: Step inside a classroom to see how cross-linguistic connections come to life – and how they can transform biliteracy development. In this interactive session, SEAL brings you into real classrooms through video to experience a proven, research-based approach in action across diverse school communities. You’ll explore strategies like Dictado, Así se dice, and metalinguistic anchor charts through guided analysis. Walk away with adaptable tools to intentionally bridge languages, strengthen transfer, and advance biliteracy in ways that respond to your students, not a script.
About the Event
Rooted in the theme “En comunidad, desde el corazón, hacia la justicia,” La Cosecha 2026 will bring together educators from across the country through 280+ presentations and workshops supporting two-way and one-way immersion, developmental bilingual, and heritage/tribal language immersion programs.
La Cosecha, the conference for teachers, by teachers, will bring together the largest gathering of educators, parents,
researchers, and practitioners supporting dual language, two-way immersion, one-way developmental bilingual, one-way heritage language immersion, and English-only programs across the U.S. Our goal is to provide current research, theory,
and practice, enhancing and expanding the knowledge base and experience of educators developing and implementing
dual language enrichment programs and supporting English learner programs.
